Attention: Jaguar 5.0 Customers
Over the past few months, we here at ECU Tuning Group, have paid more attention particularly to the 5.0L supercharged Jaguars than any other vehicle. Through the months of testing and data logging, we noticed that there are absolutely no internal differences, other than exhaust (XKR-S), between the 470hp, 510hp, and 550hp Jaguars. As stated on our previous blog (Jaguar XKR-S ECU Tuning), Jaguar placed limiters within the software that affect each model differently. By pinpointing the location of these exact limiters, removing them and giving the vehicle a further tune, we are now able to transform any 470/510hp Jaguar into a xkr-s…and then some solely with an ECU tune. This a great opportunity for customers who need the convenience of a four door car but want the added performance of the XKR-S.

Range Rover Evoque Tuning
We can now tune the Range Rover Evoque, the only way for us to program it at present is by bench flashing the control unit. We will post dyno sheets soon.
Gas Recommendation
Having tuned cars for over 2 decades we understand the importance of fuel and concerns that drivers have. Golden rule; always use the highest octane available. Customers in California, we recommend using 76 Gas. If ever you decide to use race fuel, the car will adapt to the higher octane within 30 miles.
Air Intake/Filter
Every tuner has their own preference when it comes down to an air intake or replacement air filter, us as a company recommend BMC Air Filters.
I prefer to only replace the panel filter unless its a car like the Audi R8 where a cone filter is used. The cone filter sits inside the air-box so it’s not sucking in hot air. If you use a cone filter, which is exposed to engine heat, it will suck in hot air rather than cold air.

Jaguar XKR-S ECU Tuning
Late last year, we were invited by a Jaguar dealership to read the data in the Jaguar XKR-S ECU (engine control unit). After comparing the data between the 470hp, 510hp, and 550hp there are certain limiters written in the factory software that affect each model differently. By tuning the ECU, those limiters which have been discovered will now be removed. In conjunction with the regular ECU tuning (speed limiter, hesitation/flatspots, etc.) the new software uploaded into each vehicle will be from the same specifications of the new XKR-S. The only benefit other than hardware from the new XKR-S, is the factory upgraded exhaust. By completing the ECU tuning in the XKR-S, utilizing the factory exhaust system, we can take this car to 605hp with just the ECU tune and pulley.
Customers who wish to see similar results, we recommend purchasing a Quicksilver exhaust.
Mercedes CLS63 AMG 2012 Twin Turbo
We programmed another 63 AMG Twin Turbo 2012 today. We’ve been offering this tune since January 2011, the results are amazing.
Nissan GT-R Black Edition Tuning
We programmed a Nissan GT-R Black Edition last week at our Fremont location.
We were unable to tune the transmission control unit because the data was too new, we’ll offer that option soon.
The gain on the ECU itself is between 60-65hp.
2011 Audi Q7 3.0 TDI ECU Upgrade
In Febuary 2011 we released the ECU upgrade the Audi Q7 3.0 TDI (Also the Touareg, etc). It was brought to my attention that we never advertised it, we completed another last week at GI Motorsports of Los Angeles. The gain is 40hp 65+lbs tq.

2012 Mercedes CLS550 Twin Turbo ECU Upgrade
We finished the software last week for the 2012 Mercedes CLS550 Twin Turbo. After achieving nearly 100hp on the Mercedes CL63 AMG Twin Turbo we got our hands on the CLS550. The car belonged to Emsar Design .
The results were amazing, we’ll put the car on a dyno after the car has completed its adaptation period.
